50 years ago, formally, law practitioners were recognized and issued license as senior advocate, advocate, pleader and agent under supreme court rule, 2013 B.S(1956 A.D.). Nepal Bar Association was established by decision of legal practitioners held on 2013/09/07 B.S. (1956/12/21 A.D.). Then, it is exapanded all over the Nepal in various units.

Kathmandu District Court Bar Association is located in Kathmandu, Capital of Nepal and biggest Bar unit of Nepal in term of membership; it is a most active unit of Nepal Bar Association. Till date, there are more than 10,000 lawyers have been associated in 81 Bar units under Nepal Bar Association, however, there are more than 3,000 members are affiliated with Kathmandu District Court Bar Association.

Kathmandu District Court Bar Association has played prominent role to restore democracy in 2046 B.S (1990 A.D.). People agitation second in 2062/63 B.S (2005/06 A.D.) and established the LOKTANTRA (New name of Democracy ) and facilitating to government, constitutional bodies, officials to held election of the constitution Assembly and aware about people's role in constitution and election of Constitution Assembly in priority.

Kathmandu District Court Bar Association's prime concern and objectives are to ensure Rule of Law, Independent judiciary, and Complete Democracy for making prosper and developed NEW NEPAL, and to ensure, protect professional interest of its members. It is working for achieving such objective from its establishment.

Now, Kathmandu District Court Bar Association is doing collective effort to ensure legal Aid to women, prisoners and financially weak person. Legal literacy programs, Para legal Trainings, Seminars and Workshops on Socio Legal matters with focus to general people and resident of Kathmandu are organized time to time. Kathmandu District Court Bar Association and its members frequently visit to jail, lockup, custody and detention centers to ensure constitutional and human right of prisoner and to hear their legal problems.

As a part of making prosper and developed NEW NEPAL, it is time to accept new technologies in information, communication to concern. Kathmandu District Court Bar Association is going to public some information and enlists some of its members and their contact with hoping, it will extend our service area and business as well.
